Will I need a referral from my GP?

A GP referral is not required. However we will need your medical history.


How much will it cost?

There are set fees for some procedures, however, after an initial consultation, we will provide you with a quotation.


What should I expect during the first visit?

You will consult with Dr. Mooney, who will listen to your needs, examine you and provide educated advice.


Will I have to be hospitalised?

Our procedures can either be performed in our private boutique hospital or at our private clinic.


Will I need time off?

Surgery needs recovery time, healing and proper care. Recovery time varies with procedures, this will be discussed in your consultation.

What is reconstructive surgery?

Reconstructive surgery is used to improve function or minimise disfigurement that has occurred as a result of an accident, disease or birth defect. It may also be used to approximate a normal appearance.


Who has reconstructive surgery?

Sometimes a patient may need a procedure that is aesthetic in nature but is performed to restore function.


What are the risks of undergoing a reconstructive procedure?

With a qualified and well trained surgeon, the chance of any issues is minimised. However, every surgery has risks, including anaesthesia and surgery related problems. 

During your consultation you and Dr. Mooney will be able to discuss the risks and precautions. 


How much will it cost?

Surgical fees vary widely depending on the length and complexity of the procedure. Since reconstructive surgery may require a number of procedures, it is best to discuss costs in your consultation. 


Will it be covered by medical insurance?

Reconstructive surgery is often covered by health insurance policies or ACC. Check with your insurance carrier beforehand, since coverage for specific procedures and levels of coverage may vary.
